Back from Venice, News, a Sad Farewell

I've been back for a week

Venice and Cornuda were great even in the hot, humid days that we had. Lots of walking, learning to etch, set type, and print. Great food. Even a gondola ride.

Now I'm thinking about ordering bigoli, a specialty pasta popular in northern Italy, from Caputo's. A thick, spaghetti-like noodle usually served with a duck sauce. I may not be ambitious enough for that, but I'm sure that shrimp and mussels would work just as well.

Coming back from Istanbul on Turkish Air, I managed to watch four movies—Living, A Man Called Otto, The Storied Life of A.J. Fickry, and Ford vs. Ferrari. I can recommend them all.

News from the Front

I got back just as the cover reveal for At the Ready went live.

Gorgeous, isn't it? I decided that a great cover needs a great bookmark.

Then I had my first cataract surgery. Seems to have gone well. The second one will be later this month, so I hope to see a lot better in the future.

Sad News

I am currently without cats for the first time in 46 years. Sybil died of cancer while I was in Appleton, Wisconsin at the Writer's Police Academy in June.
