Happy St. Patrick's Day: An Extra Blog Post

St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland. So the Irish have a good reason to celebrate. Maybe you do too, even if it's just the chance to drink green beer or eat corned beef and cabbage. Read this if you want to know what the Irish really eat on St. Patrick's Day.

This is my friend Sherry and me at a St. Patrick's Day celebration at the United Center in March 2019. We had met online in 2018 when we both signed up for a book cruise to Alaska in September 2019. We chatted online for months, agreeing to room together. We're both hockey fans so it was totally logical that our first meeting would be for a Blackhawks game. Since then we've become great friends.

I live in Chicago and every year the city turns the Chicago River green. No one got to see the magic this year. Because of the pandemic, the city did it when no one was around. But the river is now green and people can enjoy it if they walk along the river in the Loop.
